Chapter 35: After the battle

/ 34

Page 1

The aftermath of the battle at the Wailing Dunes. One can see the giant craters and smoke caused by the carnage General Radahn caused in the last hour of the battle. One can also see boats departing from the battlefield, carrying the Tarnished with them.

The sea of bodies on the Wailing Dunes, left behind by General Radahn. This is the usual scene of the War Festival: endless corpses that Marika had resurrected would lay before the legendary general, as he resumed his miserable existence of wandering the dunes again. These form the endless swords scattered on the battlefield one can see in the game. One can also see Alexander and Anastasia wandering around these dunes, devouring corpses.

Page 2

The "elevator" leading back up to Redmane Castle.

On the ramparts, trumpeteers are blowing their horns, heralding, to everyone's surprise, the end of an eternal battle.

Page 3

The Tarnished, battered, wounded and exhausted from the fighting, pass through the doorway of the chapel. In eons past, the Redmane Soldiers would see only the most broken Tarnished returning from the fight, having left out of fear and out of their wits from the inexhausted power of the Battlefield's Lion. Today, though this cohort looks pathetic in their injuries, they are the images of victory.

Maleigh is standing before them. Maleigh: It can't be. Maleigh: Good Jerren. Answer me. Maleigh: It can't be.

Page 4

Jerren: Aye. It has come to pass.

Maleigh looks to Morrowe.

Morrowe nods.

Maleigh: By the Greater Will.

Hyetta: Where is my knight?

The Prophet approaches Hyetta and puts a hand on hers.

Hyetta: It's you! Your... Hyetta: Your hands! They're burnt!

The Prophet holds up his other hand.

In them are many Shabriri Grapes, which the Prophet had taken from Tarnished who had gone mad from the battle. He guides Hyetta's hand to them.

Page 5

Hyetta: I'm... I'm...

Hyetta, sobbing: I'm so glad to see you've made it in one piece... Melina is watching this.

Melina: ... Melina: It really is something, isn't it.

Melina: After the endless revolution of the stars, the famous General Radahn...now returns, resignedly, to the Erdtree without fight or fire.

Gareth: Well, not to be tart, what was endless to someone else was a day to me. Gareth: But I'm not complaining about the outcome. Melina is surprised. She's not used to people seeing or hearing her.

Gareth: But, good lord, a good rest would do wonders...and a good shower...

Jerren: Those can be arranged, and much more.

Gareth, next to Rhys: Nay, I should get on. I want to be rid of this debt as soon as I - Meilyr pops into frame.

Meilyr: Gareth. Meilyr: Let's party.

Page 6

Meilyr: You said we would.

Gareth looks at Rhys. Rhys looks at Gareth.

Gareth: Alright.

Jerren cups his hands over his mouth, loudly shouting orders to the Redmane Soldiers. Jerren: GET EVERY TABLE! GET EVERY CUP! Jerren: TAKE OUT OUR BEST WINE AND VICTUALS! Jerren: TONIGHT, REDMANE CASTLE CELEBRATES, AS AT THE END OF DAYS! Castle Redmane, finally coming to terms with reality, roars with cheers.

Page 7

War Surgeon: Oh, I wouldn't miss this party for the world. Tragoth: After all that, why not get blind drunk?

Patches: I'm glad I hung around, now. Morrowe can be seen approaching Melina. Morrowe: I didn't catch your name, miss.

Morrowe: Tell me what beautiful word you go by - Morrowe tries to grasp Melina's hand, but he keeps passing by it. Morrowe: What devilry is this? Maleigh: Well. Why not.

Tankards are smashed upon one another, spilling wine and beer over the ground.

The Tarnished drink in the courtyard where they had gathered for the War Festival. Gareth, Meilyr, Morrowe and Rhys are squatting on the floor, with Gareth looking noticeably red. Maleigh is cavorting with the War Surgeon, Tragoth, the Misbegotten and Jerren. I can't really say where Patches and Diallos are, but I would assume they're taking as much free stuff as possible. Patches reminds me of myself when I was in college. Notably, Reane, The Prophet and Yuina are nowhere to be found. Reane is probably exhausted from the battle and this isn't her scene anyway. The Prophet is always serious and solitary, having left with Hyetta. Yuina and Leda have gone off somewhere; Leda strikes me as an overly secretive person.

Page 8

Gareth is pushing his finger against Meilyr's nose. Gareth: You! Naked! Scrounging for food off the ground! Gareth: You have a Great Rune! O, miracle of miracles!

Gareth: I thought there was sauce on you! But, oh, that's how Gaer always thinks! Morrowe: You should have known when he knocked down that goddamn dragon.

Gareth: That dragon! We about as pissed ourselves when that thing flapped its wings into the sky! Gareth: You did, Rhys, didn't you? Rhys does not respond.

Gareth: And when that dragon blotted the sun, Gaer and I squinted up and he said to me, Gareth: "Shit, it's coming down, innit?"

Gareth: Never seen a dragon in my life, and so I thought a dragonslayer was but a town drunk. Gareth: But that's here heavens for ye: everything beggars belief.

Gareth: That giant bastard pulled a fucking rock from the sky. Rhys: Oh, we're talking about the general now.

Gareth: Rhys, you know that black nothing above our heads at night? That void? Gareth: He plucked a goddamn rock out of that nothing like a girl plucks an apple from a tree!

Morrowe: I thought we were done. Gareth: Everyone did!

Gareth, pointing to Rhys: You whimpered. Rhys: I did not. Gareth: O, you did. I was right next to you.

Page 9

Gareth: You always have an aloof air to you, Rhys - it's what makes you so reliable, Gareth: but you got real quiet, like a mouse, didn't say one damn thing.

Gareth: You were thinking you would be reunited with that blue witch in the after-afterlife. Rhys: Oh shut up! Meilyr and Morrowe start laughing.

Morrowe: Who is this Ranni? Why are you messing with witches? Morrowe: If you two knew a thing about women - you don't - you wouldn't do a single damn thing without promises of any sort.

Rhys: Princess Ranni. Morrowe: Oh, so she's a princess? What's her dowry? Or her face?

Gareth: Aye, Morrowe, don't tease him. Gareth: She's a doll.

Morrowe: Doll? Gareth: Oh, yeah. She has a dull, lifeless look to her. She's not of flesh.

Morrowe shakes his head. Morrowe: That's a mean thing to say about a woman. Gareth: On my life it's true! You think it's strange the weirds of this place would walk around as a doll?

Rhys is upset but he's not saying anything because they have a point. Morrowe: Wi-tch-y shit you two have gotten yourselves into. Gareth: Well, what were we supposed to do. Rhys and I were going to die. I'll give her that much credit.

Gareth: Same killers, by the way, you work for, you scoundrel! Gareth is boxing Morrowe in the ear. Morrowe: Hey!

Page 10

Gareth: Never thought I'd see you in finery! Morrowe: Oh, you don't know me. I've been in frocks and surcoats in my past life. I've been through ups-and-downs.

Morrowe, gesturing to Maleigh: It's a marriage of convenience, between myself and that ... effeminate thing. Gareth: Morrowe, since the day Gaer and I knew ye, you've never done anything convenient. Gareth: Your selfishness is the bedrock of your principles.

Morrowe: Oh, come on. Gareth: Hey, I had been a mercenary once. Men of consistency, even dubious, are the best sort.

Gareth: It's why Gaer took to you. He could depend on you. Gareth: You can't put your faith on a weak man.

Morrowe: Pfft. Petty flatterer. Gareth: You're doing all this for that girl, aren't you?

A panel of Millicent resting somewhere, not really partaking in the festivities. I just don't see her as the rollicking type, but that could be funny. Or, Millicent is drinking someone under the table. That would make sense. Morrowe: Wha- Who? Gareth: Wha- Meilyr: The girl! The one you're always staring at and sitting with and spending EVERY SECOND WITH YOU DONKEY!

Morrowe: Not right now! Meilyr: Sir, I am many things, but I'm not stupid.

Rhys, who was being humiliated earlier, takes the opportunity to jump in. Rhys: As much as I doubt that statement - Rhys: come on, Morrowe. Morrowe: You come on.

Rhys: If there were fifty women, you would run laps between all fifty. Rhys: You dote about that cripple as if she were your pet.

Page 11

Rhys: Just like Reane. Morrowe: Hey, now.

Rhys: You looked to Reane as a dog would a bone. Morrowe: Rhys. Stop it. Morrowe: Don't speak ill of the dead.

Gareth and Rhys: Reane is dead?! Morrowe: Probably.

Gareth and Rhys smack Morrowe around for even suggesting that. Meilyr: Well, isn't she? We haven't seen her here.

Morrowe: Idiot. Reane is fragile as a twig. Why would she come to a festival of war? Meilyr: ? For the same reason I did:

Meilyr: To get the Great Rune. Morrowe: Oh please. She values her life too much!

Meilyr: Did she? Morrowe: ... Gareth and Rhys acknowledge the argument.

Gareth: I wish I asked her who she was. She had a fine tactical mind. Rhys: Neither you nor Gaer did?

Gareth: Not at all - she was sullen when we found her. Gareth: I only knew of her luster when we marched to Godrick's castle.

Page 12

Gareth: I wondered what Gaer saw in that pouty, broken person. Gareth: I was blind; her wit needed a medium to express itself.

Rhys: She was...thoughtful. Meilyr: I liked her mask.

Morrowe: And a fine ass on her.

Gareth and Rhys slap Morrowe around again. Rhys: So that's it!

Morrowe: You know, she told me she was a princess. Gareth: No goddamn way. Morrowe: Or something like that.

Gareth: Isn't that just the thing - Gareth: a princess and a scoundrel relating to another? The shitty stories midwives saliver over?

Morrowe: What are you implying? Gareth, to Meilyr: Where did you get your get-up?

Morrowe is annoyed. Meilyr: From a twig on Altus. Gareth: That twig?

Goldmask, communing with the Erdtree with his finger. Meilyr: No, different twig. Gareth: Where'd you pick up that branch?

Page 13

Meilyr: He's Corhyn's. Gareth: I don't have a single bad thing to say about that man. He used witchcraft to stop that animal of a man.

Meilyr: That's Radahn, sir, and the twig is called Go-o-old-mask. Gareth: Right, right, right.

Morrowe: He smells like shit and doesn't enjoy life, at all. Gareth: Better than smelling like shit and drinking all the wine.

Gareth: Did he teach you to throw lightning bolts out of your hands? Meilyr: No, a dragon did.

Morrowe: Sure. Meilyr: She flew us all the way down from Altus. Morrowe: Sure.

Meilyr: She's where I'll be going next. Meilyr: Unless the stick says otherwise, I guess. Rhys: He's your handler now?

Gareth: You, Morrowe? Morrowe: Well, I'll be returning to Altus.

Gareth: And tickle that man's arse again? Morrowe: No!

Gareth: Then what? Morrowe: Well...hmm... Morrowe: Going to the snowfields in the north...with the...ah...

Page 14

Morrowe: With Millicent - All three: HAH!

Gareth looks to Jerren's party; they're particularly loud, even louder than them. One can see Goldmask eavesdropping on their conversation. Gareth: They're getting rowdy over there.

Gareth: What on earth can they be talking about?

Jerren: You know Morgott is shitting himself right now. War Surgeon: There are innumerable tales in Mohgwyn of the warriors the general has slain. Misbegotten: Radahn's been a constant since the Shattering. Hell, even I knew him. Maleigh, brushing it all off: Morgott's problems aren't my own.

Jerren: Sure! Your continued existence throughout the millennia are assured by Morgott. Jerren: Sure! His problems aren't your own. Maleigh: I'm playing him, man.

Jerren: You're in Caelid and he's underneath the Erdtree. Who is playing whom? Maleigh: You've been in this rotten castle since time immemorial.

Jerren: You know why? Jerren: Because the Redmanes will take over the Lands Between. The war isn't over.

Page 15

War Surgeon: Ha! A pack of hounds pretending to be knights. War Surgeon: Mohgwyn will win out at the end.

Jerren: Like we're afraid of rats who have to hide. The Misbegotten says nothing; he wants to boast, but the state of his people doesn't help his case. Maleigh: Your general just died. You should be mourning.

Jerren: You're younger than me by, what, a few years? Maleigh: Try a century, old man.

Jerren: You don't know a damn thing about the Redmanes. Jerren: If the general were here, he'd be roaring for his succession right now.

Jerren: The fires of the Redmanes long to burn on. Maleigh: And you're the one who'll do it?

Jerren: No. I have matters to attend to. Maleigh, slamming his palm on the ground: Hah! Hah! Hah! And you're the one to talk big!

Maleigh: It'll never end. Maleigh, gesturing to the War Surgeon and the Misbegotten: You can back me up on this. Or you.

Maleigh: When the God of Secrets holed up in his tower on the coast of Leyndell and burned all Leyndell's ships, Maleigh: didn't we all say, "We're past the point of no return?"

Maleigh: When the Goddess of Abundance descended into the bowels of Mt. Gelmir and birthed her horrid things, Maleigh: didn't we all say, "Now this is the point of no return?"

Page 16

War Surgeon: I remember that. I slayed a few of those demons in that time. Ugly bastards. Maleigh: And the Tarnished now - they used to command Leyndell.

Maleigh: You sit here and waft your lord's feathers in your nose, Maleigh: and you're telling me this moldering castle will be start of some glorious campaign?

Jerren: By the way ye flap your gums, I sure believe it. Maleigh: Nonsense.

Maleigh: I've sworn so many knights into my service. Maleigh: I've had many knights slain in the past.

Maleigh: I've been doing this for four millennia. Maleigh: I'll be doing it four more.

War Surgeon, pointing to Morrowe: With that man? Looks dodgy. Maleigh: What you call dodgy I call trustworthy. You haven't my eye.

War Surgeon: If you're relying on him over your ten foot tall mound of iron and muscle - War Surgeon: well, not that I care. I heard your man gave Okina what for.

Maleigh: Where is that coot anyway? War Surgeon: You want to chop off his head or something?

Maleigh: While I'm here. They all start laughing.

Page 17

Okina off on his next journey. War Surgeon: The Corpse Piler is a mad one. He is always seeking the biggest, strongest bastard he can find. War Surgeon: That's why Mohgwyn gave him his cursed sword.

Maleigh: Aren't the biggest bastards here? War Surgeon: Apparently not. He's a dog with impeccable scent.

War Surgeon: You're not wrong. I know, from Mohgwyn's business. War Surgeon: Every however many centuries, Marika goes on a spree.

Tarnished arising from the various graveyards in the Lands Between. War Surgeon: You'll think you've met the worst, most vicious, nastiest and evil men in the world - War Surgeon: and then, out of nowhere, a crop of the worst people you've ever met will pop up, from worlds you've never heard of.

War Surgeon: Apparently, in every existence there is enough heartache and pain to create monsters out of men.

Maleigh: Is that where you came from? War Surgeon: No, I - War Surgeon: Hmm. Maleigh: Hmm?

War Surgeon: I'm not telling you. Maleigh: You damned Dynasts, tight of lip to the end.

Page 18

Tragoth: What's odd is that she brings few back. Tragoth: I've met Tarnished wielding hammers bigger than mine, who could shout thunder at will.

War Surgeon: I once met a man covered head to toe with iron, he had a sword taller than him made of iron, War Surgeon: and get this, his shield, bigger than his body? Iron. Hell of a kill.

Jerren: I don't think it's Marika. War Surgeon: Then who? Jerren: ...

Tragoth: So...what? We just kill each other until it all...ends? Maleigh: Yes except for the "ending" part. Maleigh: My recommendation is to stop being philosophical about it and enjoy life more.

Jerren: Isn't that itself philosophy? Maleigh: Oh, shut it. The group laughs.

The War Surgeon perceives something, the others cannot. War Surgeon: Hmm? War Surgeon: ... War Surgeon: We're being called back.

War Surgeon, standing: It's been fun. War Surgeon: NOBLES! REANE! War Surgeon: GATHER AROUND ME!

War Surgeon, to his group: We'll meet on the battlefield again. Tragoth, Misbegotten: Aye.

Maleigh: I hope not. War Surgeon: Heh.

Page 19

Maleigh, also standing: But on that theme... Maleigh: You know, you're right, Jerren. Morgott won't be in a good mood. Maleigh: I have to return with something.

Jerren: Oh come on fellow, don't ruin the mood - Maleigh: You said it yourself, nothing shall interrupt the festivities. Maleigh: The festivities are ending. Elemer looms in the background.

Maleigh: I have Leyndell's enemies in one spot. Maleigh: I have the dynasts of Mohgwyn, who challenge the sovereignty of the Golden Capital.

Maleigh: I have the long-lived steward of the Redmanes, who once stood defiant before Leyndell's walls. Maleigh: I have Tarnished, with Runes, who believe themselves inheritors of Marika's will.

Maleigh: It almost doesn't even matter whom I kill; it's a benefit to me regardless.

Tragoth rises, along with his hammer which is probably bigger than Maleigh. Tragoth: It sounds like you're making yourself an enemy to all. Maleigh: Story of my life, huh.

Maleigh: The founder of House Marais was a slab of meat. He chopped off the heads of criminals with a flick of his wrist; his prick was bigger than all of you.

Maleigh: It was our good Lord Radagon who asked him to devote his body and soul into punishing the transgressors of the Golden Order.

Maleigh: And he did so, and he pledged his seed's devotion as well. Maleigh: Here I stand, not noble, but proud all the same.

Page 20

Maleigh: And yet, I'd rather be economical. I'm more brains than brawn. Maleigh: Who is the weakest link among you?

Elemer draws closer. Maleigh: If I had to argue...it'd be you, Jerren. Maleigh: You already announced you won't lead the Redmanes, correct?

Maleigh: Who will miss an old coot like you? Maleigh: Hell, don't you long for your own eternal rest?

Suddenly and violently, someone does strike - but it's not Elemer, it's Morrowe. Morrowe pierces his Knight's Greatsword through Elemer's armor and stomach; Elemer, stunned, is actually immobilized from the blow.

Page 21

Morrowe kicks Elemer off his blade; Elemer falls wordlessly to the ground.

Elemer tries to grope for his broken sword and greatshield; Morrowe plants one foot on Elemer's chest.

The sword is raised high in the air.

Morrowe swings down, chopping Elemer's head off.

Elemer's head rolls.

His head lies on the ground, not moving, very uncharacteristic of this man in thorns.

Page 22

Gareth: Morrowe! What's come upon ye?

Gareth: Morrowe? One can clearly see the tangled gold in Morrowe's eyes, influenced by Maleigh's compact.

Maleigh waves goodbye to the group. Maleigh: See? You think so little of me. Maleigh: It's been fun. I have a list of priorities to get to.

Maleigh: I don't need to kill you now, Maleigh: because I have all of eternity to get to that.

Gareth blocks Maleigh's way. Gareth: We fought together. We risked our lives together. Gareth: If you think - Maleigh: Hush now, shardbearer. Don't lecture me on right or wrong.

Maleigh: Don't pretend his life was suddenly precious to you. Maleigh: In fact, don't pretend the lives of any of the men you've slain were precious to you.

Page 23

Maleigh: I'm not going to kill you. Isn't that enough? Maleigh: Or, what? Your airy "honor" is more important?

Maleigh: Stand aside, or Morrowe will drive through you.

Gareth relaxes his shield. Gareth: Morrowe...

Morrowe has a dull expression on his face. Whether Maleigh is telling the truth or not, it's clear Gareth doesn't exactly know what is going through Morrowe's mind.

Maleigh: Value your own life. That's the only thing you can guarantee.

Maleigh: Nothing is more unseemly than a shardbearer who thinks he can save everyone. Maleigh and Morrowe leave.

Page 24

Gareth is distraught, and also really drunk. The Bloody Fingers have gathered. War Surgeon: He makes a fair point. War Surgeon: We have to go, quickly. Where the hell is Reane?

Gareth: Reane?

Maleigh and Morrowe enter the courtyard.

Reane is hiding in a pillar nearby, her arms folded. Reane: Someone's lapdog now, hmm? Reane: Morrowe.

Page 25

Morrowe snaps out of Maleigh's influence, turning to Reane. Morrowe: Reane.

Morrowe runs off. Maleigh is perplexed, but he's not entirely surprised.

Morrowe rushes to Reane, physically overwhelming her by grabbing her shoulders. Reane: Hey - ! Get your paws off me, you brute!

Morrowe hugs Reane. Morrowe: Reane. I was so worried about you. Morrowe: I thought you... He has tears in his eyes.

Reane awkwardly pats Morrowe's back. Reane: I, uh... Reane: Get a hold of yourself, you ape.

Morrowe: Why are you wearing that stupid mask? Morrowe: I didn't recognize you.

Reane: I - Morrowe: Did you join those creeping men? Is that where you've been?

Morrowe: Did you think I care?

Reane: Well - I - Reane: Yes! Morrowe: Well I don't.

Page 26

Morrowe: I'm so glad to see you again. He's holding the tips of her hands.

Reane: I, uh, I suppose I miss you as well -

Reane sees Millicent looming in the background; she has a look of concern on her face.

Reane: Morrowe. I have to go. Reane: Latenna is coming with me.

Morrowe: She's better with you. Morrowe: We'll talk more someday?

Reane: Yes. Reane: ...Are you alright?

Morrowe: Of course I am. Reane, thinking: What other answer did I expect...

Reane sees Maleigh has walked off into the distance, allowing the two some privacy. Reane: Morrowe. She has a knife in her hand.

She removes a glove.

Page 27

She brings the knife against one of her fingers. Morrowe: What are you doing -

She cuts a finger off. Morrowe: Reane! Are you insane?!

Reane gives the finger to Morrowe. Reane: If you're ever in trouble, let me know, through this finger. Reane: You'll understand.

Morrowe: ... Morrowe: There isn't a less gruesome way to accomplish this?

Morrowe: Well, what about - Reane: No, don't call me for petty things. Reane: Idiot.

Reane: This artifact of mine will circumvent the Erdtree's influence. Reane: I don't give it lightly.

Reane: ...You're important to me. As much as I am in your eyes. Reane: Alright. I must go now.

Morrowe, a little disappointed, leaves, stuffing the finger in his pocket. Reane watches him leave.

She runs to him.

Page 28

She gives him a big ol' hug.

Reane: We'll meet again.

Reane runs off to the courtyard, where the Bloody Fingers have gathered.

Reane passes by Millicent. Millicent, concerned: Reane! Reane, indifferent: Millicent.

Millicent is saddened to see Reane rush by her, as she sees her as a true friend.

Millicent, Maleigh, Morrowe and the Leonine Misbegotten leave Castle Redmane.

Page 29

Reane runs past Gareth, who is standing confused. Rhys is about ready to go, while Meilyr, unfazed by recent events, has sprawled out on the ground to relax.

Reane unites with her fellow Bloody Fingers.

Reane and Gareth exchange a knowing look. Of course, Gareth does not absolutely know this is Reane, but Reane is pretty sure, by Gareth's demeanor, that she is looking at Gareth.

The Bloody Fingers descend into the blood.

Gareth's buzz has been truly killed.

Lionel approaches Gareth. Lionel: I believe your name is Gareth?

Page 30

Gareth: Yes, I am - Gareth sees something glowing on Lionel.

It's the Baldachin's Blessing. Lionel: I'm Lionel. You met my daughter.

Gareth: ...Fia? Lionel: Aye.

Lionel: You are everything and more than she has described to me. Lionel: I've come to put the great general to rest, and I'm glad I was given the grace to do so.

Lionel: I'm heading off now, but... Lionel is pulling something out. Lionel: Fia asks of you a favor.

Lionel presents to Gareth the Weathered Dagger. Lionel: You know of a man named D?

Gareth: Aye. He's a good friend of mine. Lionel: Can you please return this to him? Lionel: This is, by her words, precious to him.

Gareth: I don't know where he is. Lionel: The Tarnished are all connected. Have faith.

Lionel bows. Lionel: Thank you.

Page 31

Lionel leaves. Gareth stares at the dagger.

Gareth: D...my good friend.

Rhys is waiting for Gareth to finish his conversation before they leave.

Someone taps Rhys's shoulder.

Rhys turns. Finger Maiden Therolina is bowing to him.

Rhys, awkwardly, tries to return the bow. He wants to be anywhere other than with her right now.

Therolina, in Seluvis's voice: Well. Who needs formality? Rhys: S-Seluvis?

Therolina: Yes. I've altered the fate of this puppet to commandeer it from afar. Rhys: A puppet? It's so...life-like.

Seluvis curls Therolina's finger on her chin menacingly. Therolina: Yes...the miracles one can do, knowing the stars.

Page 32

Rhys: Why didn't you tell Blaidd or I you were here? Therolina: I came out of curiosity. This puppet isn't good for fighting. Therolina: Frankly, I thought you two would die.

Rhys, a little bothered: Well...fair assumption, I suppose. Therolina: One must enjoy one's luck.

Therolina: You're off to see Lusat, now? Rhys: ! Rhys: You spoke with Sellen?

Therolina: Hmph. You think this was her idea? Therolina: I'm the one who suggested this to the witch.

Therolina: She owes me. I want to see Lusat for myself too.

Rhys: You're not concerned about letting Blaidd go ahead? Therolina: Blaidd does as he does. He's a dog, uncontrollable.

Therolina: By my calculations, that star fell in Mistwood. We won't be in Caelid anytime soon.

Rhys: Let me tell this to Gareth.

Gareth approaches Rhys. Gareth is staring at the dagger in his hand. Rhys: Gareth. What is it?

Page 33

Gareth: I...realize I have business in the north of Caelid. Rhys: Oh. What is it?

Gareth: Something D. bid me to do. Rhys: Well, this is perfect.

Rhys: I have business here in Caelid with... Rhys turns around.

Rhys looks for Therolina but Seluvis, for whatever reason, is shy and has vanished. Rhys: ...Well. In any case, I have business in Caelid. Rhys: Why don't we convene in Mistwood, where the star fell?

Gareth: Rhys. Gareth raises his hand high in the air. Rhys is baffled.

Gareth thrusts his hand around Rhys's and brings him close to him. Gareth: You're like a brother to me. Let's meet again. Rhys is flustered.

Rhys: I - Rhys: Of course, Gareth. Of course.

Gareth and Rhys bow to one another.

Gareth leaves, on Stalwart.

Page 34

Therolina is now behind Rhys. Rhys: Thank ye for embarassing me. Therolina: What is your shame to me?

Meilyr is hanging around, scratching his ass. Meilyr: Welp. Now I am one. Meilyr: It's time to take the longest nap.

Goldmask and Jerren approach Meilyr. Meilyr: What is it? You're blocking the sun. Meilyr: I need the shine of the sun to sleep.

Goldmask, through his finger: Meilyr. The battle begins.

Meilyr: What?

Shadows are cast over Meilyr.

All the Redmane warriors, including Freyja, have gathered around Meilyr. Jerren: Now we shall decide who to succeed General Radahn.
